Not because truth is the enemy of the human being, but because coming to see it after a long deformation requires passing through the collapse of whatever once held him together. In the work of Abisay Puentes, that instant does not appear as relief, but as shock: consciousness begins to open, but it does so in the midst of trembling.

Born in Cuba under a dictatorship that turned confinement into horizon and obedience into atmosphere, Puentes has developed a symbolic narrative in which oppression is not limited to the political sphere, but penetrates the inner structure of the human being.
