Abisay Puentes Art
Vertigo No.3
Vertigo No.3
Vértigo No. 3
Not every revelation arrives as a luminous opening. At times, it comes as disorientation, as a sudden loss of inner footing. In the work of Abisay Puentes, that moment is not presented as an isolated psychological episode, but as a more serious condition: that of the human being who begins to awaken only after having been deeply altered by the forces that deformed him.
Born in Cuba under a regime that turned control into atmosphere and confinement into normality, Puentes has built a symbolic language in which the loss of freedom also manifests as the loss of center, orientation, and consciousness. Vértigo No. 3 belongs to that territory. It is a work that does not simply represent the instant of seeing, but the trembling that follows that vision: the disequilibrium of one who can no longer inhabit the former fog with innocence.
Within La Parábola, Vértigo does not function as a series of rest, but of rupture. It is the stage in which consciousness begins to emerge from numbness, yet still finds no repose. For that reason, Vértigo No. 3 sustains a different kind of tension: not only that of revelation, but of its consequences. Here, truth does not appear as relief, but as weight, as friction, as an irreversible change in the soul’s relation to what surrounds it.
This work should be understood as part of a larger body in which painting, music, and poetry operate as a single narrative structure. Its force depends not only on its visual presence, but on the symbolic density it introduces into the space. For the collector, Vértigo No. 3 offers precisely that: not a pleasing image or a passing impact, but a presence that preserves instability, thought, and resonance over time.
