Mecanikalgia No.2

The deepest forms of dependence rarely begin by looking like a prison.

First comes adaptation.

Something external enters slowly into our routines, our decisions, the way we understand what we need. After enough time, it becomes difficult to remember what it was like to exist without it.

Mecanikalgia was born inside that tension.

Within La Parábola, this body of work marks a moment when pressure no longer comes only from the outside. It begins to become an interior presence—intimate, almost familiar.

That uncertain boundary is what interests me: the space between accepting something and beginning to belong to it.

No.2 is a variation within that same state. It is not meant to resolve it. What interests me is keeping open the question that runs through Mecanikalgia:

At what point does what we allow into our lives begin to transform us in return?

I have spent years building La Parábola in precisely this way: allowing the same question to pass through different paintings until it finds all the forms it needs.

For me, a work does not end when the question has been formulated.

Very often, that is where it truly begins.
