Eva No.4 (Watercolor)

When I arrived in the United States, I was eager to learn everything – the culture, the language, everything. But I was afraid of losing my identity as a Cuban; over time, I understood that you never lose your identity, your customs, or your culture. You simply add more to what you already have. This series speaks to another facet of identity, which is our identity as humanity. 'BRUMAS' captures the evanescent nature of memory and identity through each work in this collection. The figures are depicted shrouded in a veil of mist, symbolizing the uncertainty and transformation of self-awareness and personal history.

In this specific piece, the female figure gently emerges from a background of translucent and fluid colors, where bluish and orange tones blend to create an ethereal and contemplative atmosphere. Painted in 2022, this piece resonates with my contemplative journey through themes of disappearance and the ephemeral. I depict this delicate fading with a palette of soft watercolors, enhanced by fluid brushstrokes that invite viewers to a reflective experience. The series also reflects my work as a composer and my long exploration of the relationship between visual and auditory experience. Each painting remains a complete and autonomous work.
